Like many women, I LOVE FLOWERS. I love the colors, the smells, the variations in textures and sizes. Flower arrangements set the tone of an event.

Planting the flowers

I don’t know if you were able to make it by The Carriage House last summer, but the flowers are incredible here. My son-in-law, Walt, puts in a lot of hard work in the spring to make sure the fields are covered in color. The last few weeks he has been putting in the time planning the rows, tilling the dirt, and planting the seeds. All of this work will make me, his favorite mother-in-law, quite happy come June, July, and August.

Variations of Sunflowers

I think I’m most excited about the big sunflowers. We have lots of yellow, but I think my favorite ones are the deep orangey-red ones. Walt is even thoughtful to plant some pollen-less sunflowers. These are really nice as you don’t end up with spots on your clothes or your table if you cut a few to take home!

Colorful Zinnias

Walt also plants lots of zinnias. These are really special as they are a favorite of his grandmother in Jefferson City. She loves the multiple colors of pinks and oranges as well as the different shapes of the blooms. They remind her of her childhood as her mother also adored these flowers. My granddaughters picked her some flowers last summer as a special treat. What is better than a handpicked bouquet from two pretty little girls?

Come Enjoy the Flowers

With limited weddings and events being held last summer due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were able to open the grounds for some special flowering picking days partnering with non-profits. We enjoyed hosting the community on our estate. This year we won’t be holding those events due to our busy event schedule. If you aren’t part of an wedding or other event this summer when the flowers are at their peak, be sure to check out our Facebook and Instagram to see the beautiful blooms.

You can also work with local photographers to take photos with the flowers. Last summer several photographers came out for private sessions on the grounds. Serenity Beard of Southern Grace Studios had several clients on the grounds. Her Mommy & Me, Family, and Engagement sessions are so colorful with the bold yellow sunflowers. We have already touched base with her this month, and Serenity would love to take pictures on the grounds of The Carriage House again this summer. If you are interested in a photo session with her, you can find her contact information on her website to set up a session. Here are a few of my favorite photos from her sessions last summer.

We have some availability in our calendar for special events during the flower blooming season. I’d love to help you plan an event where you can enjoy the green fields with a pop of color in the rows of flowers.

All my best,
